“Things were completely different from the way they are now. University students wanted to delve deeply into things. We would read voraciously in order to sound intellectual. In school, the intellectual-sounding guy would be surrounded by girls. Today, this guy would sound like a loser. Now all you need to do is act like a comedian, like Stephen Chow, and the girls will love you. The whole environment in the ’80s was about gaining modern knowledge. Everyone was ambitious to learn more.”
