“We didn’t have music class, but in literature class, we would sometimes play music that sounded like figure-skating music. We listened to such beautiful melodies; we all enjoyed it very much. At that time, we were students. In the evenings, well-known people would come to our school and give lectures. After dinner, we’d walk around West Lake, then come back and fight for seats at the lecture. The atmosphere was great back then. After listening to the lecture, we would return to the classroom and take turns being the model. It didn’t matter whether you were male or female—today it might be you, tomorrow it might be me.”
